Fresh Jalapeños + Roasted Garlic + Cream Cheese + That is all you need to make this appetizer.. You could of course wrap them in bacon (see the last image in post) if you are a meat lover but I promise these are fantastic just on their own. When we used to make the bacon wrapped version in the restaurant, I always left a few unwrapped without the bacon for the vegetarians. ok, they were for me…
I would recommend wearing plastic gloves while removing the seeds.. or at least wash your hands really well afterwards and don’t touch your face or it will start burning. Just in case you were wondering.. NO the cream cheese doesn’t melt out of the Jalapeños. I used regular full fat cream cheese.. I haven’t tried this with a low fat or fat free version because honestly those are worse for you than the full fat one.. If a company removes the natural fat in a product, they must replace it with some sort of chemically manufactured ingredient to make up for the taste and texture you just lost by removing the fat..
Ingredients
- 1/2 head of roasted garlic (see link below)
- 1 8oz pkg cream cheese, refrigerated
- 12-15 jalapeños, split in half lengthwise & deseeded
Instructions
- Squeeze 5-6 roasted garlic cloves out of the head and smash into a paste.
- Smear the paste over the block of cream cheese and rub it in. (You can mix it in a bowl if you choose but this is quicker and less cleanup)
- Slice cream cheese and mold to fit inside the jalapeño. Place on a baking sheet
- Roast 425* for 15-20 min or until cheese is brown and bubbly.
